BAERING has announced the promotion of Erin Smith to the role of president as well as the addition of two director-level positions.
Smith joined BAERING (formerly MMI Public Relations) in 2010 as an account executive and has risen through the ranks at the firm over the years. Most recently, Smith was promoted to vice president in 2016 and began serving on the firm’s leadership team. Over the past six years, BAERING has experienced tremendous growth. In 2013, the firm announced it was expanding its service offerings to become fully-integrated and meet the ongoing demand to provide creative, branding, and digital services.
Since that time, BAERING expanded its multimedia services with additional capabilities with its in-house video department, opened a creative department and rebranded to its current name. Smith was a key player in the decisions on how to augment the firm’s capabilities, and she was instrumental in implementing these changes across the firm while leading the staff’s development to support the expanded services.
As president, Smith is primarily responsible for setting the strategy and direction for the firm, modeling the firm’s culture and overseeing client delivery and success.

To aid in Smith’s transition to president, BAERING added two new director level positions to absorb all operational and strategic day-to-day needs for the firm.
Elizabeth Kadick joined the team in January as BAERING’s account director. In her role, Kadick oversees the account services activities across all clients, ensuring client delivery excellence and success. Kadick comes to the firm after a successful career in Washington, D.C. Most recently, she served as associate vice president at Curley Company where she led the internal client teams and planned and executed multi-year communications strategies for clients ranging from corporations to government agencies and nonprofits.
Ashlee Gerow was hired as BAERING’s director of strategy, developing and implementing the strategic vision for clients. Prior to her current role, Gerow served as a senior marketing manager at MedThink, Inc., and, previously, she worked on the BAERING team as an account supervisor for two years. During her time at BAERING, Gerow was instrumental in establishing the firm’s brand practice.

This announcement comes on the heels of several client successes. In 2018, BAERING secured two major business-to-business (B2B) industry accounts in the branding service line, solidifying its positions as the leading B2B integrated communications firm in the Research Triangle Region.
